Join us for the 2nd in the Gardening Presentation Series at the Montague Center Library. Turf Wars: The Great American Lawn

Lawns are not natural ecological elements. Learn how we got from a country of forests and prairies to a country dotted by countless green acres of high maintenance turfgrass. The history and politics of the lawn are simply fascinating as are the ecological implications and challenges of balancing the fondness for a neat lawn with today’s environmental concerns. Led by Michael Marcotrigiano.

Outdoor Concert

Join us outside of the Montague Center Library for a concert by local singer/songwriter, Jenny Burtis!

Burtis and her band’s performances traverse a variety of emotional landscapes, from the tenderness of a revelation to the downbeat drive of rock n roll.

The concert will be held inside the Montague Center Library in the case of inclement or particularly cold weather.

In many cities over 50% of all urban trees do not survive more than five years after they are planted. Learn why trees fail and gain an understanding of how to keep a tree thriving in your landscape and in town. The talk reviews all the “don’t do’s” when planting and caring for a new tree. Led by Michael Marcotrigiano.

Kitchen Wizardry

Montague Catholic Social Ministries and the Montague Public Libraries present the 2nd in the 3-part Good Food Workshop series.

Nalini will lead a diabetes friendly workshop, demonstrating how to make wholesome, delicious and healthy dinner bowls with an emphasis on flavor! Hosted at MCSM Family Center, 41 3rd St. Turners Falls.

These workshops were made possible thanks to a grant from the Association for Rural & Small Libraries.
