Annual Family Fishing Day

Family Fish Day
The Great Falls Discovery Center’s Seventh Annual Family Fish Day event takes place Saturday,June 2, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Registration is at the Great Falls Discovery Center, 2 Avenue A, in Turners Falls. Free raffle for everything from fishing gear to fishing trips! No need to bring any equipment, we have it all. Learn how to tie flies, cast fly fishing rods, and go fishing at Unity Park. There will also be face painting and fish printing! Also new this year, tour the Silvio O. Conte National Fish & Wildlife Refuge’s mobile visitor center the Watershed on Wheels Express. Investigate interactive kiosks about the Connecticut River watershed and explore the habitat immersion trailer. This event happens as a result of generous donations from local businnesses with help from local volunteers as well as the State of MA, Dept. of Fish and Wildlife, State of MA, Department of Conservation Recreation, and the Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge. Come celebrate!

Montague Munch

Eat, walk, and dance around the Montague Center Commons at the Montague Munch, our 1st annual traveling potluck featuring this year’s topic, Solarize Montague.
Residents from all five villages of the town are invited. The Montague Munch will take place from 4pm to 7pm, with a schedule as follows:
4-5:30pm
Appetizers, Solarize Montague info booth, and tour of weatherized features at Montague Center Library
An open house featuring PV on the home of Jill Bromberg and Howard Blodgett, at 44 Main Street. Look for a fire truck parked nearby as an easy way to find the house. The Montague Center Fire Department will be handing out plastic fire hats for the festivities.
5:30pm-6:30pm
Potluck pasta dinner at the 1st Congregational Church, with a brief presentation by Sheryl Sadler-Twyon, long-time Montague resident, on her journey to solar. Info booth on Solarize Montague.
6:30pm
Dessert at the Grange followed by a community square dance.
To ensure that there is enough food for everyone, the planning committee asks that people bring food to the assigned location below, based on the first letter of their last name:
A-G Appetizers, non-alcoholic beverages to the library or 44 Main Street from 4-5:30pm
H-O Desserts to the Grange at 6:30pm
P-Z Dinner items to 1st Congregational Church at 5:30pm
