The Sky Blue Boys perform at the Great Falls Coffeehouse
Local musician brother duo, Banjo Dan and Willy Lindner (co-founders of the popular bluegrass group Banjo-Dan and the Mid-night Plowboys) are The Sky Blue Boys who offer a program of rural American music hearkening back to the days before electric instruments. Accompanying their songs on guitar, mandolin, banjo, Doboro and autoharp, they add to the tradition by including a few original songs, along with the occasional curveball. A popular segment of their performance is a simulated old-time early-morning radio broadcast, complete with theme music, ads and dedications. The Sky Blue Boys have carved out a unique place in New England’s folk and acoustic music scene, playing old fashioned music with zest, energy and reverence. You’d almost think it was 1940!
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., concert begins at 7:00. Refreshments available. Museum and Museum Store are open during intermission. Donations ($6-$12 suggested at the door) help the Friends support free nature programs at the Center.
The Friends of Great Falls Discovery Center host local bands, singers, and individual musicians in the Great Hall on the second Friday of each month, except for December.
