Friends of the Montague Grange Forming

MONTAGUE -- The members of the Montague Grange are creating a separate 501(c)(3) non-profit organization called The Friends of the Montague Grange. This non-profit will be charged with fundraising for the many structural repairs and upgrades desperately needed, including repairing the roof, adding wheelchair ramps, and removing the drop-ceiling from the main hall. We invite all our neighbors and friends who would be willing to join this new organization either as a dues-paying member, an officer on the board, or a committee member for the four events we plan to hold throughout the year. The first meeting will be held at the Grange Hall this Sunday, February 7th, at 1:00pm. The Montague Grange hall is located on the town common in Montague Center, across from the church.

The Montague Grange hall, built in 1835 as a Unitarian church and owned by the Grange since 1935, is used for a variety of community functions, such as dances, movies, community meetings, and various holiday events. As a fraternal organization, donations made to the Grange are not tax deductible, and membership dues collected must be sent to the State Grange. Forming a separate non-profit will allow the committee to repair the hall to receive and keep all donations for hall repair use, as well as allow donations to be legally tax deductible.
