Looking for alternative minded house (Montague MA )
Housing needed VERY SOON.
I am a 33 year old female looking for housing in or near Montague Center on April 1st.
I am willing to pay $300-550.
-Respectful, friendly, alternative minded house-mates who recycle, compost, conserve energy, eat good healthy food, use the clothesline.
-A decent sized kitchen. I am vegetarian but don't mind meat in the
house. I have a chest freezer that I like to stock up for the winter.
-I don't watch TV and would hope it would not dominate the common space.
-A house with a wood stove and some charm both inside and out that feels
inviting.
-Internet access
-Garden beds to grow lots of food.
To me home is a place to come back to at the end of a long busy day where I can relax and feel comfortable, cook and unwind. While we all
come and go as we please, I would not want to live with someone who is never actually home. I am pretty neat and responsible with paying my
bills, doing my chores and not eating someone else's food. I appreciate others who do the same with room for regular communication.
I'm sure it's a very nice home, but if the yearly rental is $25,800, the asking price of $299,000 seems very high. Normally the maximum people expect to pay for a rental property is 10 years' rent and most properties on the market these days can be had for much less than that.
I am wrestling with the idea of selling my multi-family home in Montague Center. I love this property but plans have changed over the years. I'm still not 100% sure whether I'll sell quite yet, but am listing to see if there is any interest and will go from there. It basically depends on how my job situation pans out within the next month.
Cute antique 2-story home currently set up as a 2-unit rental in a great location in gorgeous Montague Center. Continue renting both sides, convert back to a single family, or live on one side and rent the other.
Built around 1905, it is located diagonally across the street from the Bookmill (www.montaguebookmill.com) and is a super easy walk to the conservation area through the back yard. In the summer, as I tended the yard when I used to live there, I enjoyed hearing the live music coming from the Bookmill :)
Fenced front yard on about 2/3 acre of land. Two-story, 2-car garage with extra storage area in back for tools and the like (would make a nice additional rental or 'mother-in-law' unit, workshop, etc.)
Wood floors throughout and lots of windows. Mature coniferous and deciduous trees in the yard, gather (large!) grapes from the front arbor or blueberries from the backyard, and live in a country setting yet within a bucolic, peaceful town that uniquely offers a variety of amenities (dance at the Grange; shop, eat, or listen to live music at the Bookmill across the street; take an easy walk to the post office or small grocery store, etc.). You can even hear the river from the property. :)
I envisioned exposing all of the original clapboard siding on the house and painting it an olive color with contrasting trim, clearing a few trees from the ample back yard to set up a picnic area and garden, planting espaliers and various fruit trees by the fence, having a few small animals, etc. but my plans have changed over the years and I may not be moving back to the area.
Additional info:
1) Front unit currently rents for $1200 and is apprx. 1400 sf with 2 bathrooms, LR, DR (or bedroom), kitchen, and 2 bedrooms and large storage area upstairs.
2) Back unit rents for $950 and is apprx. 900 sf. with LR, bathroom, basement, kitchen, and 2 bedrooms.
-Heat: oil (radiators)
-Slate roof
-Large front porch (I used to love listening and watching the rain outside while sitting on the porch weaving on my loom or reading a book :)
-Wood floors through

We are two professional females in our early 30's looking to add a new housemate to our 3 bedroom home in Montague Center. The available room has a bedroom and office space. There are two full baths in the home, a washer and dryer, wood stove, large backyard, garden space, and some nice 1847 charm. We are eco-minded, non smokers, who compost, recycle, and try to live as green as possible. We prefer pot lucks and game nights over parties and are looking for someone who would fit in with that mind frame as well. We have one very friendly female fixed indoor cat and would be open to another. Rent is $400 per person a month plus utilities. We currently do not have television (though we do have a TV for movies). We are also looking for someone who would be interested in participating in creating some community here with shared chores, occasional house meetings, and occasional shared meals. Drop me an email and I can send you some pictures of the place and we could set up a meeting time. Jan 1 move- in and we have a month to month lease.
Located on Taylor Hill, this unfurnished, two-bedroom home is cool and shady in summer, warm and sunny in winter, and wonderfully quiet.
It is one of two detached and very private units on an acre of country land with beautiful views of the surrounding hills, woods, and fields (the second unit is a studio over the garage). Features wide-board pine floors, a sunny (newly refinished) deck, huge closets in the bedrooms, and a spacious kitchen with pantry and appliances (refrigerator, gas stove, dishwasher), as well as a washing machine and dryer in the basement.
Heating is electric and passive solar, with a bricked wood-stove hook-up in the living room. Has a gas range, gas-heated hot water, and clean, drinkable well water from the taps.
Nearby are hiking and cross-country skiing trails, streams for fishing, rivers for boating, and low-traffic biking roads. Within walking distance of popular local cafe and hangout, Montague Bookmill (www.montaguebookmill.com)
A well-behaved cat that likes the occasional mouse is welcome.
The house comes with a garage space AND a garage-door opener (nice on those snowy days).

Ideal for quiet, non-smokers looking for a peaceful, homey oasis in a hectic schedule.
$1200/mo plus utilities; first/last/security. Available now through the end of July or August, 2013, with an option to renew.
I have some friends, a couple, who are between houses. They have sold their house and are waiting to get into their new house. There have been delays that may continue another 2 - 4 weeks. They are tired of camping at B&B's and would like a home with a kitchen to land in for a short duration. All their stuff is piled in boxes so they would need a furnished place starting immediately through about mid October. I am not sure of the end date. That would need to be negotiated with them. An efficiency apartment would be fine. Something simple and comfortable would be great.
If you have, or know of a possible lead please contact me

Housemates for Montague Center Apartment
I'm urgently seeking two housemates for the unusual, very nice 4-bedroom (plus small guest room), 1/5-bath 2nd floor apartment in which I've resided for 25 years in downtown Montague Center.
Rent per room will be @$415/month; utilities including wireless internet are extra. The bedrooms are optionally furnished.
The household has historically been multi-generational, semi-cooperative, smoke-free, drama-free, and friendly to fiddle music (I teach and practice and host a weekly music session).
If interested, or if you know someone who might be, call me at (413) 367-9380 and get my email address from my website: www.davidkaynor.com.
We are 2 responsible well-liked 40 yr oldprofessionals with one old sweet dog. This could be perfect for everyone. Please respond soon. we both sold our houses!
Hi, are you still looking for someone to rent your house in Montague Center? I am going to attend GCC's Outdoor Leadership Program for one year beginning Aug 15 and need a place for myself, my elderly mother, and a live in caregiver for her. Montague Center is our preferred location.
A recent renovation and expansion has made this the nice large home that it is today. Open living, dining, kitchen area great for everyday or for entertaining. Separate family room opens up to the porch and small back yard. Above the family room is an additional loft space which would make a great office, hobby area or guest space. Updated baths and first floor laundry. Convenient to all that downtown Turners Falls has to offer, but set up on the hill on a dead end street. 3 bedrooms, 1.5 bath with laundry on the first floor. Refinished hardwood floor and a fresh coat on the exterior! Move-in ready!
OPEN HOUSE SUNDAY JULY 15th 12pm-2pm, X Street Turners Falls
If this is still available, I have a mature friend who owns a home in Northampton, is a Jungian therapist and is looking for a place in Franklin Cty for a couple of months to get out of Noho. If it is still available let me know. She may be very open to July and September.
