Pow Wow..
To comment on your remarks. I followed this air port deal from the very start and went to two public meetings about this before it was approved. The towns people were totally misled by this whole deal ..made to think they had no choice but to continue with this mess because of a Grant from the FAA...and the Indians didnt know any thing about the site having been found, until they started clearing the land..lets face it ..the indians were here long before you or I or any airport ..this was where they lived. PERIOD.
If you found one of your ancestors burried in your back yard..would you want the town to dig up your yard and put in a road or highway or an airport
I dont think that the towns people really understood this mess when they voted on it.
first of all the town will not make any money on that airport..besides what taxes are paid if any...and the only time the air port will make money is when a plane is kept there over night or rents a hanger....so all you have done by voting for this is....expanded the play ground of rich people with expensive toys and in doing so ..you get this...
1. More noise pollution
2. More Air Pollution
3. Possible water Pollution
So what are you going to gain by that air port expanding...something that the Towns Residents should have thought about before they all skipped out on voting or went and voted YES...
Understand this...Montague is not the only town that has to put up with the 3 items up above...so do the residents of Erving, Gill, parts of Wendall and even parts of Greenfield as these planes fly over head...so Montague is not the only one that should be unhappy about this expansion....Your just the only ones who get to pay higher Taxes because of it...and got the chance to vote on it.
Thats what happens when you dont educate your self on the issue or you dont want to be involved until after the mess has happened. and you dont go vote...
If I lived on the other side of the river ..I would have voted NO>>>
GOOD GRIEF..... When did the India Indians ever attend a Selectpersons meeting about the airport?? Have you nothing better to do with your life than be a Nit-picker?? And just what was so argumentive was about my QUESTION anyway?? Stay dry ( Unless you are pro rain)
By saying "Indians" do you mean people from India or Native American Indians? They are two different people, cultures and from different regions. I am sure both parties would happily state they are not the other.
Why does it seem everyone is in a fight? What does one gain being mad/rude/snotty? only high blood pressure, headaches, anxiety, fear, or is it just fun to do? I myself have enough to things to do.
If heaven forbid, there is tribal land Native American Indians have a right to keep, then why be critical when it was taken from them in the 1st place?
Just a thought to the village people of Montague!Happy day
Actually I went to an airport hearing about three years ago and the Indians were there raising issues about some of the sites there. I think this has been an issue with both Indians and archeologists from the very beginning (Although the two also tend to differ).
Personally I have serious doubts and questions about the Indians’ claims (to put it mildly!). It is my understanding that they are claiming there is an "active" site, which to me is probably not supportable and would in effect give them a precedent to veto almost any project. But they have been raising these issues for quite a while.
"A million dollars for a pool but nothing for a good school? Vote no!"
Just a quickie.. Where were the Indians when the while airport project started??? Why do folks always come out of the woodwork midstream???Does it take that long to wake up?? Anybody??
