And look at where Timothy McVeigh is right now... Bin Laden and his cronies should be strung up somewhere in a hot desert. I won't post what they should be strung up by. Of course the maority here will look at the Oklahoma City bombing as more of a barbaric act than 911. And who says I am stuck on this issue. All I did was state a point.

Compare 911 to Pearl Harbor. Both are acts of war on American soil no matter what anyone thinks. The Japanese bit off way more than they could chew and so did the terrorist groups who downed The World Trade Centers.
I'm sure if the big "A" was dropped on the areas of these terrorist cells there would be an end to all the BS following 911. Look at Hiroshima, Negasaki. Both instantly turned into ashtrays. The white flags went up and dog patrol was called off. Whos to say all the aggression in the mideast won't lead up to a large pile of ash some day.

Mark's excesses are nothing new, but saying things like "No one is a "HERO" just because they were killed at work" and " don't know the details, but this 9-11 shit has gone too far! I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT 9-11. Somehow it's a big psychological crutch for people unable to get out of bunker--mentality" is beyond ridiculous. Someone decides to work in a life-threatening profession and when they're killed in the line of duty they aren't heroes? Of course they're heroes. They went into that building to save people and died there. And I'm sure they were willing to save people who, like you, have no respect for what they do. That's pretty damn heroic in my book.

I do wonder what the schools will do with the windfall of cash from the government? I am a little confused on this as it seems not long ago the schools may have been trying to propose getting more money in order to balance the budget.
I understand the School Comittee may be a little hesitant to answer as the DA has an active gag order in effect but any info on this matter would clear things up.

Respect for the dead is one this, putting them above the living is another. I care as much about the folks murdered in 9-11 as I do about the folks gunned down in Texas, or the person beater to death by their partner, or the kids murdered by their parents. There is plenty of unpleasantness in the world.
No one is a "HERO" just because they were killed at work. How about the beverage distro people in CT? Yes, it sucks; yes, it's horrible, but they are not "heros" to be glorified. Why are only Firefighters and police "heros"? That's the career they chose!
If we continue to just place false glory on it (and especially if we don't LEARN from history), it's not respect it's just lying to ourselves.

I look at it as showing respect to those who were killed, and their families. 3000 plus people were intentionally murdered on 9/11 and you don't care. That's cold to say the least. Maybe you thought what happened at Pearl Harbor was no big deal, maybe you think war memorials are a waste of money and time, why bother showing respect to the dead right.

It's about priorities, Mark. I choose to focus on real living people and real actions, not trumped up ceremonies.
I think Mik, makes those points because, in general, you didn't say a peep about anything when GW was in office. Much like the tea-baggers that pretend to be concerned about the "deficit" and $250million worth of education spending, but happily let Bush (and complacent/cowed Democrat Congressfolks) get us in to a bunch of wars that cost $3 TRILLION!!!
