Brick Walk Work

We've got a couple of brick walks that we're thinking of having redone (they've got some low spots, and puddles form). Does anyone have any recommendations for having this done? Our priorities are: 1) someone who knows what they're doing (we want it done right, so we don't have similar problems in the future), and 2) someone with a bit of an artistic flair.

Please feel free to reply on this list or privately. Thanks!

Plumber referral

I just had the BEST. PLUMBER. EVER. come and fix a serious leak that went through two floors in my house. His name is Jason Wallace from Wallace Plumbing and Heating. The number there is: (413) 863-0014. I am fairly new to this town and had originally hired someone from the phone book. His name was Shawn and he was horrible! He couldn't fix the leak after coming three seperate times and cutting a hole in my ceiling and wanting to cut down an entire wall. After that disaster I got smart and asked for a reference. Jodi at Absolutely Fabulous Hair recommened him to me and I sure was grateful. After talking with Jason on the phone and describing what was going on he knew exactly what was wrong. He came a few days later - at my convenience - and fixed the problem within 15 minutes. His fee was very resonable, he was super professional and I haven't had a drop of water leaking through my ceiling since. I will never use a different plumber. If you are looking for a plumber who is honest, knowledgeable, has resonable rates and willing to work with you, then call Wallace Plumbing and Heating!

Babysitter Available

Hello,

My name is Katarina. I have been a babysitter for about 7 years now, and was a summer camp councilor this past summer for the Montague Parks and Recreation. I have experience with children ages newborn to 12 years of age. I have work with up to 4 children at one time. I have had experience with twins, and a child with Aspersers. I am 18 years old and currently attending GCC. I LOVE children. I am a strong believer in babysitters who actually spend time with the children instead of sitting them down in front of a tv, video game, or computer. I am able to provide references if you would like. I have also taking the red cross babysitters course a number of years ago and was recently CPR and AED certified, and although my certification expired a few months ago I am looking to get it renewed ASAP.

I am available Wednesdays and Fridays any time after noon, Thursdays after 2 and Saturday and Sunday whenever. I am very flexible with what I charge, and have my own transportation.

If I might be able to help please feel free to E-Mail me at Kat53193@gmail.com or call at (413)-824- 6611

Seeking electrician

I would highly recommend Scott Bergeron. His company Bergeron Electrical Services is out of Southampton but he lives in Sunderland and I see his trucks up here all the time. They did a lot of work for us, removing old knob and tube wiring and bringing it up to code. They are really good at running new wire through walls and ceilings without doing any damage. Not sure what type of work you're looking to have done, but they are very experienced and professional, even the younger guys who were there part of the time. They got it all done in about 3 days and we thought the price was on target for the amount of work that was needed.

I'm looking for someone to build a simple wood work table for me. Nothing fancy, just a sturdy and presentable work table. An experienced carpenter could probably build it in a couple of hours. Specifications available on request. Would be glad to hear from anyone in Montague with the time desire and ability to take on this very small project.

BRUSH REMOVAL?

Does anyone know anyone skilled & reasonably priced to cut my fallen brush and remove it from the property? Mostly small-to-medium-size branches. There's also a large oak limb, that dropped months before the storm, that I would be happy to trade for some of this work (good firewood), or give away to someone who wants to cut it up and use it for heat.

I know everyone who does this sort of thing has more than enough work, but would like to find someone reliable and get in line.

Thanks!

Does capping lead paint really work?

mark2 One of the crazy laws / codes to come down the pipe. Good luck it's really a pretty expensive endeavor and really silly for the most part when you read all the bs you have to go through to remove it. Some one is getting rich off of it. Proper disposal means a hell of a lot of duct tape tyvek suits and tons of heavy gauge plastic.

Does capping lead paint really work?

JohnTobey Hi Montagovians,

Has anyone had lead paint remediated by "capping" outdoor wood with aluminum? Does it work? How long does it last?

We've got some estimates from certified deleading contractors. Our outside windows all have flaking lead paint on a bit of wood exposed between the vinyl window and siding.

Estimates mention "cover exterior window parting beads with coil stock". I guess this means nailing or screwing some metal to the wood to keep the flakes from falling to where kids are. Someone told me that's not a long-term solution, that a layer of encapsulant painted on the wood before capping lasts longer.

I'd really like to hear opinions & experiences, please!!

Thanks,
John
