D-Con Disaster?

MontagueCenterMan I am not certain, but it seems my cat may be a victim of poisoning. He usually stays out nights and sleeps all day, but sometimes he alters his schedule, often he brings home mangled gory 'presents' then peers at me wisely as if to say, "See? I can do my job!" One particular evening, he was outside, retching and obviously not feeling well. A mangled pile of mouse or small chipmunk lay on the porch. I took Hunter inside and he definitely exhibited signs of poisoning. I know the mice have been a bigger problem than most this year as I have caught at least a half dozen mice where I usually capture one, and we actually discussed D-Con or some type of pest control, but did not use it.
I believe somebody in the vicinity of 26 Main st may be (using poison), although I have found Hunter roaming as far as the Post Office. So the scenario seems simple, the mouse eats the poison, becomes disoriented and weak, and Hunter comes along and pounces on what he believes to be a tidy little snack and a gift for Paw-Paw. (That's me) The poison enters the cat, the cat comes home sick, lethargic, panting and retching.
So PLEASE folks, if you ARE using poison, please try an alternative method. I will be happy to come and help set traps if you are elderly, I can supply traps as well. I get them 4 for $1, so I can afford to foot the bill.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
