Thanks for raising this Mike. I agree. I'd like to hear the police department respond to the national movement for police accountability and restructuring that best supports community health and safety.
18 articles in an hour is a little over three minutes per article. It would take longer than that just to read some of them.
Your questions about the town hall annex are good ones. I'm hoping someone will ask some questions about how the police budget is spent. I think it would be a good opportunity for the chief and/or the police commissioners (aka selectboard) to publicly acknowledge that they understand the concerns of the recent protesters and to explain how the department and the town are addressing them.
my first question would be if Deerfield can handle 26 warrant questions in an hour, can we do it too?
Actually article 17, do we really want to allow the town hall annex to be sold? I can understand leasing but selling? How would this affect parking?
End White Silence Rally at Montague Common Monday at 4 PM.
We will be lining up along both sides of Main Street for an hour or so - at good physical distance from each other.
Bring a sign or come as early as 3 and there will be sign-making materials available.
If you're wondering "why Montague" -- here is a piece by "Standing Up for Racial Justice" outlining the usefulness of small/village-level/non-Black public support and organizing. https://medium.com/@...iolence-2bb907ba5277
Thanks, Stash! The link has been put into the blue box on the side. We'll continue working on the upgrades on and off for the next several weeks. Wish we had started the upgrades last summer so we'd've been done in time for the 20th anniversary of MontagueMA last October, and fully upgraded by February of this year... just in time for the COVID lock-down. Ah well. The future is still open. 25th anniversary in October 2024!
Hey folks, just to let you know, we're finally beginning to do some visual upgrades on the website code (which also runs leverettma.net, shutesburyma.net, greenfieldma.net etc) and will also be upgrading some of the functionality, such as commenting on posts instead of creating new, linked posts as a reply. we'll also be simplifying how rights and roles work in the back-end (for any admins out there reading this) and generally making it more dynamic and mobile friendly. Why let Facebook have all the fun?
So, if you see any weird layout issues or get an error while posting, please accept our apologies in advance, and thank you for your patience.
Has anyone else in the Millers Falls area been having problems with their Greenfield Recorder delivery? We've had the same carrier for years, and they've been very reliable, but lately I've missed at least one paper a week. I've got a name and address for the carrier, but no phone number. If it happens during the week, I can get the paper delivered the next day, which is okay but not great, but today the office is closed.
Does any one know what the folks that deliver the Reporter get per issue delivered? The young lad that delivered mine has never let me down and I would like to make sure he still gets paid for my delivery at the least during the digital delivery. Thanks and STAY WELL......
"The Western MA Nurses Association/Baystate Franklin Medical Nurses has established a safe collection spot for donations of PPEs (including homemade masks) on the porch of 74 Crescent St, in Greenfield. See attached image for more info. This is Rudy Renaud's house (former Greenfield City Councillor, works for MA Nurses Assoc), and I got the information from her via Facebook. Re homemade masks, she said: "People in the community can use the homemade masks while we are looking for n95s for HCPs. We will sort through them so it’s good to make them if you can."
I had heard that local hospitals were looking for people to sew face masks until the shortage of PPE can be addressed. I've been working on some, but I don't know where to bring them. The hospitals probably don't want people walking in off the street. Does anyone know of a drop off location for either Baystate Franklin or Cooley Dick?
Every Montague restaurant/cafe/food establishment needs our support to keep running if we want these businesses to stay afloat (during the pandemic and after). Please keep ordering out from them when you can - and don't forget to tip.
Hi. Hope all are well. I'm wondering if anyone is aware if the center will still be doing the AARP tax prep on Friday? If not I'll have to make some other plans for Mr. & Mrs. Old Dude to get them done. Thanks and STAY HEALTHY Please. ED.
