Directions to the Montague Grange

From all points east, west, north and south

Coming on Route 2 from the East:

Take Route 63 South from Route 2 in Erving. Follow Rt. 63 through all the turns in Millers Falls then continue about 5 miles on Rt 63 until you see a small sign ’Montague Center’ on the right. This will be Center Street. Turn here and travel 1 mile to the center of the town. (If you see a sign for Rte 47 you have passed the turn. Take the right turn onto 47 and follow directions printed below for coming up from Amherst.) At the stop sign you will be at the town common. The Grange is in view on the opposite side of the common, diagonally to your left.

Coming from Greenfield:

Take Rt 2a east to the blinking light. Turn right onto Meadow/Crescent. Follow road to the left (don’t accidentally go straight!) then right then left again, up long hill. At end, turn right onto Mountain Road. At bottom of hill, end of road, turn left and cross bridge. Turn right onto Greenfield Road. Follow to detour, turning left onto Hatchery Road. At end turn right onto Turners Falls road. Road will eventually turn hard left and you’ll see the Town Commons in front of you. Grange is on right.

Coming via I-91 from the South (also good for coming up from Sunderland or Hadley):

Take exit 24 going North. Right onto Routes 5 & 10 North at the exit stop sign. Turn right onto Route 116 South at the lights. Travel about 2 miles to the second set of stop lights in Sunderland Center (you have just passed over the Connecticut River). Take a left on Route 47 North and travel about 4 miles. At one point Route 47 will turn right after a sudden short downhill. Continue straight, do not connect to 63. There will be a sign directing you straight to Montague Center. (If you should follow Route 47 here it ends in one block at the junction with Rte. 63. Turn around.). After one mile you enter the village of Montague Center. When the road begins to veer to the left the Grange hall will be on your left and the town common ? with the church & clock ? on your right.

Coming on Route 63 from Amherst

Drive appx 18 minutes up Rt 63 to the Route 47 junction. Turn left onto the connector (it’s about a 1/4 mile long). Turn right (north) OFF Route 47, heading towards Montague Center. About a mile later you enter the center of town. At commons look for parking. Grange is on left (west) side of commons.
