Water Under the Bridge Music Festival this weekend!
As Sheryl Hunter says in today’s Recorder, “The town of Turners Falls will become a Mecca for music lovers this weekend when the second annual Water Under the Bridge Music Festival takes over the downtown area.”
RiverCulture, The Brick House's Powertown Music, and Turn it Up! have teamed up for the 2nd year to present WUB2! Dozens of bands in the park and in venues throughout Turners Falls. Come hear the best in up and coming Valley music, hang out and enjoy the village. The Great Falls Discovery Center is also leading a bike tour of the bridges along the canal and River on Saturday afternoon!

Starting this Weekend: "Transitions", Year-end images by Hallmark's June Class of 2011
Hallmark Institute of Photography is proud to announce "Transitions," a new exhibit showcasing images produced by members of the June 2011 graduating class of Hallmark Institute of Photography. The exhibit features a stunning range of dynamic and creative work produced by the students over the course of their intensive 10 months of photographic training.
This exhibition marks the end of a thrilling journey for these Hallmark students, who came to Turners Falls from 35 different U. S. states as well as 7 countries, including Brazil, India, Italy, Mexico, Panama, Singapore and Sri Lanka. It also marks a beginning - having taken those first steps a mere 10 months ago, these students are now poised to begin their voyage into the professional world of photography and imaging arts.

Next Saturday: 1st Annual Mutton and Mead Festival!
The festival, traditionally known as a Renaissance Faire, is the first of its kind for Montague and will bring together fun, food, and entertainment with a medieval flair. This will be a day for everyone, kids, teens, and adults alike. Dressing up in period costumes is not required, but it will heighten the experience for everyone.
The theme for the inaugural year is Robin Hood of Sherwood Forest, "Thieves of Honor." Many characters from the legend, including Robin and his band of Merry Men, will be making appearances in the woods around the faire along with a varied assortment of entertainers, craftspeople, and other vendors from across New England. There will also be jousting, eagles and falcons, knife throwing, archery demonstrations and contests.

RiverCulture's Under Construction Hard Hat Auction and Fashion Show!
We’ve completed a successful showing of our 28 artist enhanced hard hats in the windows of Wilson’s Department Store in Greenfield and now they are residing in the Crocker Building windows on Avenue A in Turners Falls until the event on June 25th. Stop by and check out these ingenious creations designed by local artists! If you can’t make it to see the hats in the windows, they can be viewed on our facebook photo gallery.
The black tie/blue collar event to benefit Turners Falls RiverCulture, emceed by our Police Chief, Ray Zukowski, will feature music by Michael Nix; a fashion show of all the hats choreographed by Wilson’s fabulous window designer, Tami Beauregard; a live auction of the hats with auctioneer and owner of Holy Smokes BBQ Delicatessen, Lou Ekus; a silent auction of hats and other handmade items and services; and a post auction dance mix curated by Rob Fletcher and Laura Herbert, not to mention satisfying hors d’oeuvres and a bar with beer and wine.
