The Rail Yard Restaurant
Hello all,

Had a chance to have breakfast at The Rail Yard on Route 2 in Erving and found the owner prepares a very satisfying meal with pleasant service. Breakfast and lunch only.

New Asian Place
We stopped at the Kobe by Home Depot after my last June treatment at the Oncology Lab . Nice interior, super wait staff. And the best part. GREAT food. You can either sit at the grill or in the dining room. Same cost. Wife and I ate well and she brought home 1/2 of hers plus we had 1/2 the appetizers left as well. All for less than $30. The only con was the green tea. I prefer the good old black tea usually served. Scale of 1 to 10 I give them a solid 9.9 . Good tea would be a heavy 10..

Yup, Like my bud in Florida says, " at least we're on the green side of the grass " :-) Watched the selectman's Q&A . Mark is still my choice.

Glen
Bummer, Stash. In a perfect world, no one like you would have to go through anything like that.

On the other hand, you could look on the bright side:

* You're alive.

* The Glen is doing well enough that it can be hard to get a seat there sometimes for lunch.

Both good things, no?

Glen
Not a good day for the pollock. Got done over at the oncology lab at Franklin and decided to hit the Glen for lunch. Had to park out back. ( no biggie ),except the step and the out swing door. Get inside and booths all full. Tried the counter seats and between the leg braces and cane-crutches it's a no go. Two booths had only one person in them. There was at least one other couple sitting waiting for a booth. Love the sign on the booths. No saving, yet let one person have them. One was done and had their change already. I mentioned it to the waitress and got no response. Good food but no more. Good thing there is 99 and Applebees when you want more than a great burger..

Question
A snail walks into a bank to make a deposit. Then a turtle comes in and robs the bank. Afterward, the police are interviewing the snail and asks him to recount what had happened. The snail says, "I don't know, it all happened so fast."

Question
News Flash! The assault on NoHo by a horde (flotilla? wave?) of snails (undoubtedly unleashed by a restaurant on Pleasant St in Amherst whose identity has been cloaked by Hampshire County officials) is an outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual schism in that county! Franklin County residents should exercise prudence as they travel to and froacross Rte 9 between the belligerent parties, and should rather stick to sneaking up and down Rte 63, and then south on Pleasant JUST FAR ENOUGH to get their own snail-fix (or is it escargot to GoGo?) in Amherst. Naughton is right:if they are now marching on Northampton, can Easthampton be next?? I hope so -- if they go after Deerfield, Muller's website might be next.

Question
May I add to Mark's reply on snails that Chez Albert is a charming restaurant with a host who enfolds you in a warm welcome and loves to recommend both cocktails and wine to match the meal. They have also had rabbit and duck from time to time. And now that their parking-in-back is less snowy you don't need Amherst DPW involvement ...!

Question
Figured this would be the best spot for this.. Looking for a local place, franklin cnty that serves snails. The last place I had them was in Brattleboro. Nice place, a tad pricey but worth it, but, only open nights. I don't drive and wifey doesn't like driving at night. Hamp would be ok as well. Thanks, Stash

New Burger Joint
Was back last week to THE COW. Had sausage burgers. They should stick to beef. Wife and I both were kind of disappointed. Guess we'll stick with the cow burgers. Those have been great no matter which variation they have put on our plates. Also was impressed with the spotless restroom.

Five-eyed Fox
Disclosure Alert: My record on predicting success for eateries in Turners Falls is pathetic, for which I am grateful (if embarrassed). Several places I thought were risky have thrived instead, so I hope I don't jinx a good one here.
With that in mind, my first visit to Five-Eyed Fox on Third St was very positive. It does not feel like a repeat of anywhere else, the inviting atmosphere should appeal to a variety of people, and the food was tasty and unique-within-reason. That makes it a good choice for curious visitors and Cheese-Beer followers. I need a late-evening place to unwind, sometimes, and this is where their extended hours will be a real asset to the village (and provide yet another reason for other villages and towns to sample the attractions of Power Town).

New Burger Joint
We've been to the Burger Bar several times, and we agree -- they make a darned good burger. You may spend less at other places, but you won't get a better burger ... even if you spend more. We recommend it.

New Burger Joint
Was there wed. $31 for 2 burgers,2 iced teas, order of fried pickles and a small order of sweet tater fries. Not inexpensive for a burger. BUT worth every darn penny. Was at a burger joint in Seattle in June, ( supposed to be the best on the West coast). Price was about the same, but compared to the Cow they were more like Burger King.. Will be a customer for sure. On to Harvest Table and the Wing joint.... 4 stars for the Cow...

New burger joint in TF
Tried it and liked it a lot. The food was great and the service was quick. Inexpensive but not like fast food. Also they were able to accommodate my dietary needs. We'll be back.

I love it. A place that would serve a cow flop on toast would be fine cause it's local and locally owned. . Don't like what I said about a small town eatery so be it. Whine all you want I still didn't like the food. Get over it. So if I went say 6 times and still didn't like it it would then be fine to say so. Wasted money twice. Thats enough for me. I'm sure all you fine? folks slamming me have never complained about anything . You folks really got to get a life if this is so important..........

"We were in the village and saw that they were open. On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give it a low 4.. Very disappointed. Got the wings and slaw... Way too smokey, like they are trying too hard. Don't like a vinegar dressing in my slaw. Prices are a tad high.. I've been spoiled by just one visit to Bubb's in Sunderland. ( Not sure, maybe Amherst).."

Here's your original post. Free speech, but pretty critical for a first visit. I don't like mayo in my slaw. A matter of personal opinion. So we support our friends, employers and community event supporters. Well, I don't really care for " newbies" trashing local bussineses on minimal impression.Since we are all so imperfect perhaps you should run for public office and fix everything. There will be mayo in ervery slaw. Helmens? Do you have a preference?

Good lord........ Read my darn post... Read whats there not what you think is there. I think most folks on here read so much crap into stuff that really isn't there at all. Just beacause some body is local doesn't mean all they do is perfect. Oh wait on here it does.
