Rock ’n Roll Programs For Girls And Young Women
IMA’s summer music programs give artists access to top notch musical facilities and instruments, veteran professional musicians and time with visiting artists. Most importantly they have lots of time for musical exploration and collaboration with other musicians. Campers have the choice of bunking inside the barn in the bunkhouse or outside in yurts (large round Mongolian-styled tents on a wooden platform), have access to private bathrooms and showers, delicious (and nutritious) meals, an array of electric and acoustic instruments and plenty of practice rooms.
Explore Rock ’n Roll $500 June 23rd -June 27th for girls 9-12
Designed for pre-teen girls interested in playing rock ’n roll or other forms of popular music • camp offers opportunities to explore various instruments, to begin writing songs and to participate in a short performance for family and friends
Rock ’n roll Performance Intensive $1000
session I: July 9th-18th • session II: July 23rd- Aug 1st for teen-aged girls 13-19
Designed to give teen-aged girls an opportunity to speak their truth through the medium of rock ’n roll, gain confidence in performance abilities, improve musicianship and develop collaborative leadership skills • campers select original or cover tunes to arrange, chart, rehearse and perform at the end of the camp • all girls will participate in writing, vocal, drum & percussion, chart writing & arranging classes and have access to a wide array of instruments.
Studio Recording & Production Program • $1000 • August 6th-15th for young women and late teens 16-21
Hands-on” studio recording seminar for girls and young women 16-21 who are ready to record their own music or interested in exploring studio engineering as a career • students will learn recording basics and have the opportunity to record their own work and engineer the work of the other participants.

Montague Farm Cafe

Montague Farm Cafe is a free family-oriented weekly event that includes a community meal, arts and crafts projects, guided hikes, and improv games at Montague Farm, 177 Ripley Road in Montague. All are welcome -free transport is available. A physician, Dr. John Kealy, is on hand to answer health questions, joined by other health and wellness practitioners. This is a project of the Montague Farm Zen House. Call Karen: 367-5275 if you want to come, need a ride, or want to volunteer some time or garden surplus.

Band Workshop

Contra Dance Band Workshop for Melody Instruments with Lise Brown, leader of Big Bandemonium. This is an applied theory workshop designed to help melody instruments develop skills and strategies of what to do when someone else is playing the melody. We will learn to understand chord changes, and how to create harmonies and counter-melodies. The workshop is designed for intermediate and advanced players.
