Several towns on Cape Cod have negotiated with the utilites to stop using round up under powerlines for the rest of this year and possibly into 2012 because of concerns about health risks.
Roundup is a product manufactured by Monsanto, a company that has produced many useful products over the years but I have issues with several of these products. A quick, cursory search of the web has yielded lots of results of the benefits and cons of using Roundup. I personally would never use it on my property because we have well water and the last thing I want is for a product like Roundup to be seeping into the aquifer. I don't have any professional, scientific studies at-hand to support my decision however.
I was walking my dogs along the powerlines at the plains today and discovered that the utility company is spraying roundup ( I think this is similar to agent orange ) under the powerlines. I am not sure if it is legal for them to do so.
2011 got off to a great start on January 1st, as Montague Parks & Recreation hosted their Annual Sawmill River 10K Run in Montague Center. Christopher Gould was the overall winner with a time of 36:23, and Sidney Letendre was the female winner with a final time of 42:51.

Thanks to Jon and the gang for organizing the race and thanks to the weather gods for making the temperatures a bit more livable. A good time was had by all.
i still havent found any maps of the plains but I have seen a few topo maps of the area. I"ll just have to try and make one of my own to the best of my ability (with the help of my gps), thanks for the leads, much oblidged. Will share any future findings as they come.
Mass Wildlife website has a listing and maps of the state reservations. The one for the plains is a topo and shows the roads.. Hope this gives you a starting point. Not sure where locally you can get topo maps.
I don't have a copy in my archives, but I believe the 1936 survey of the US Geodetic maps did have all those roads in the largest pitch pine forest and blueberry haven, not to mention the turtles..., many of which I travelled on maybe 50 years ago. You can go on line and download those and other maps.
