Looking for beach chairs

mik I'm looking to upgrade the seats of two soapbox carts. If you have an old broken or unwanted cheap-o folding beach chair (the small one) and don't want it anymore, please let me know. I'll stop by and grab it. I need two. Color and material don't matter. Thanks.

Soapbox derby Carts in Spring Parade

mik Racers from the Montague Soapbox Derby or any of the other local races are invited to walk in the Franklin County Annual Spring Parade in Turners Falls on Saturday, April 14th!

Please bring your cart to Crocker Avenue between Montague and Davis Streets near Sheffield Elementary School by 11:00am. We are float #31. Look for the banner and other carts!

Make sure your cart has a strong hook on the front and the back so you can hook up to the cart in front of you.

Looking for a PowerPoint Pro

mik Montague Soapbox Derby is looking for someone to put together a nice PowerPoint presentation for the derby. Will include Underwriters, sponsors and advertisers. As a fundraising event the position won't be paid cash, but instead you get a t-shirt, a pint glass, and a slide in the presentation to be accompany the shoot broadcast live -- and repeated several times throughout the month on MCTV and other local stations, and again in subsequent years.

Derby

junkman Why don't you guys put your energy into building a soapbox derby car. Call it " The Political Piss Pot " or something along those lines. Or Jimmy Cracked Corn... Or maybe a car like on Animal House. that was a cool car.

Anyways the derby is coming. It would be neat if there were a few rivalries battling it out for the trophy. Kind of like the conversation on this board. Only at the derby you will win atrophy. Not sure what the prize is on this board.

Battle For The Title

junkman The Soapbox race is quickly approaching. Battle of the bars/towns would be a neat thing to see. In my opinion, the odds are stacked for one of the 3 bars enterring the race. Hands down. Unless someone else wishes for a great challenge.

WHAT a BLAST !!!!

What a great day! Thanks Mik and crew for wonderful memories for my Son Kyle and me. Kyle had such a great time he wants to do it again next week, so we will keep our eyes open for other races in the area.
We would also like to thank our sponsors who provided parts and pieces for us to build our car, without them we would not have been able to participate as safely and professionally as we did. A special thanks to all the spectators and fans that came out, it is a great learning experience for our kids to perform in front of large crowds.
Special Thanks to Helen and Jim (brakes)

WHAT a BLAST !!!!

Mik: Congratulations for a GREAT community event involving ALL ages and segments of the community !!
My wife Martha and I were up visiting and had a delightful time seeing the race AND seeing soooo many of our friends and aquaintenances of over 35 years in Town! While in the audience, I heard a large number of people express their desire to be in the race NEXT year.!!!! Again Mik---CONGRATULATIONS !!!

This is EXACTLY one of the many types [including art shows, pumpkin fests, festivals etc.] of activites that previous citizen groups "dreamed" could get started in the "future" back in the 1980's !!! It was soooo refreshing for us to be you all and see such a HAPPY , FUN activity come to the Town of Montague !!!!! Thanks Mik and the ENTIRE CREW !!!!! Clark

WHAT a BLAST !!!!

mik Hey, how cool, huh? That was so much fun. Can't wait till next year.

Special thanks to Russ Brown for a great job on the microphone and Deb Borbeau for coordinating the "Race Officials." Stan Rosenberg and our own Pat Allen. So many people in Town Hall came out to help, like Doug and Mandy and... I'm not even sure who else. Jon Dobosz, you rock, sir. As does Tom Bergeron at the Hiway Dept. What a great bunch of people. Linda Ackerman from GSB doing the countdown (don't worry, next year we'll send up food!) and the rest of the Race Committe: Brandon, Barry, Doug, Chuck, Hyrum, Deb, and especially Anne Harding and Greg Garrison. Seriou troupers. And everyone who helped with HAY. Holy crap. Laying down and then re-stacking 650 bales of hay. Oy! Kelly, take it easy!

If you have any thoughts or ideas, please send them to me.

Congrats to all the winners. And to my girl Ivy who won first place in the kids division by a hair! Woohoooo!
