Unusual Vendor

Over the past few years we have had a few vendors selling unusual items but today we have someone planning to sell compost which I hear is some pretty good SH-T.
I promise that I don't make this sh-t, stuff, up.

Final Market

Today is the final farmers market of the season. Figures it would rain.
2-6 pm on the corner of 2nd St. and Ave A in Turners Falls

Another nice day.

Geezes Two weeks in a row with nice weather for the Farmers Market. That is a record for this year. Vendors start setting up about 1:00 pm and stay until 6;00 pm. However if you want some of Marge's baked goods you got to get the buy 4:45. She is usually sold out by then.

Great weather

Finally great weather for the farmers market. There is eggs, beef, jack-o-lantern pumpkins, fresh veggies and fruit along with baked goods and a back massage. The market will be going until 6;00 pm.

Community Health Center joining market this week

The Community Health Center of Franklin County, Montague City, will be providing free health care information and doing blood pressure checks at the August 11th Great Falls Farmers Market located at the corner of Avenue A and 2nd Street in Turners Falls in celebration of National Health Week

The second week of August each year is dedicated to recognizing the service and contributions of Community, Migrant, Homeless and Public Housing Health Centers in providing access to affordable, high quality, cost-effective health care to medically vulnerable and underserved people in the U.S. This year's commemoration is special because 2010 also marks the 45th Anniversary of the creation of the National Health Centers.

You can still get there.

The Gill/Montague Bridge has gone one way but the market is still at the corner of 2nd and Avenue A. If you are coming or going from any direction besides route 2 then the one way bridge will have no effect on you getting to the market. If you are coming from the Gill side then you will have to go home over the White bridge and cut through Greenfield. If you come to the market as far away as Erving, which I know folks do, then you will have to go home via Millers Falls.
Besides that it will be business as usual at the market with fresh local produce, eggs, grass feed beef, baked goods, fresh breads, crafts and a chair massage.

good Weather for a change???

Can this really be happening. A Wednesday market with no rain forecast for this afternoon.

It has rained on 6 of the previous 8 markets and another day it was so hot no one came out and Marge's famous sticky buns were real sticky.
Wonder how many vendors show up today? Stop by and find out.

Posted by clegg - Sun, Jun 13, 2010, 12:12 P

Weather does not stop some vendors.

Even with the chance of lousy weather there are vendors selling plants, strawberries, preserves, beading crafts and yes a chair massage.

Surprise or two

If the weather turns out to be nice the Market might have a surprise or two for Wednesday, June 9 th and Sunday June 13th. Along with a great assortment of plants from many vendors, in season produce, Marge's famous sticky buns, Skinny Man's homemade breads, Dawn's Crafts, Firefly's egg, and Peter's jams we could have entertainment and chair massages. Yes you read that correct.
But you won't know unless you stop by.

90 degrees

It is suppose to be 90 degrees on Wednesday for the Great Falls Farmers Market. Imagine that, a Wednesday that doesn't rain. Starting a 2pm on the corner of 2nd Street and Avenue A. in Turners Falls.

Rain or Shine

The Great Falls Farmers Market on the corner of Avenue A and 2nd street is always on Wednesdays and always rain or shine. New hours are from 2 to 6:00 pm.
And about the always on Wednesday thing. This year we are having four Sunday markets and the first one will be on June 13th from noon till 4:00 pm.

Customer Appreciation Day

October 28th will be the last market day of the season. Many of the vendors are joining with a appreciation for all your patronage this year. There will be cakes, melons, roasted chestnuts and more.
John again will dress up as the "aging rock star" and pass out treats.
If your child picked up a pumpkin and hasn't dropped it off yet then you still can on Wednesday.
See you October 28th then again on May 5th, 2010

Pumpkin contest and last 2 weeks of Market

Pumpkins in October - what could be better? The weather we're having, for one, and I'd love to join in tomorrow with our Sugarbush Farm maple syrup! See you there!

Pumpkin contest and last 2 weeks of Market

For those parents that had their children decorate a pumpkin please drop those pumpkins off as early as possible on Wednesday, October 21st. The judging of the pumpkins will begin at 3:00 pm on October 21st and from 1:30 to 5:00 pm on October 28th.

On October 21 & 28 my friend John Donahue will be dressed up as an "aging Rock Star" and passing out candy and other treats to adults and children. Any one who knows John may be surprised to see him dressed up.

The Final Market Day is October 28th with Customer Appreciation Day. Many vendors will be showing their gratitude with free items and samples for all the support and patronage they received this Market Season.

Pumpkin Decorating - on more day to pick up pumkins

All school ages children can pickup a free pumpkin on September 30th , October 7th and October 14th at the Farmers markets . Decorate the pumpkin and return it by October 21st for prizes. All children submitting a pumpkin will receive a prize.
There are 3 vendors participating; Bob Johnson, Peter and Bloody Brook Farms. Also on October 21 and the last market day of October 28th there will be treats for the children. Some healthy such as apples and some not so healthy, like candy.

The market was very successful this year and we even had to extend our hours. Thank you to all the vendors who have participated this year and to all the customers. We had many first time vendors this year and many many faithful customers.

Also thank you to Montague Web works for adding this space to montaguema.net web site. Being able to post here has been a huge asset.

Thankyou,
Don Clegg

Neighborhood Market

You know what is one way to see that this Farmers Market has some unique and different vendors from years past. Well the girls from River Maple Farm don't get to the market until about 3:30 because they don't get home from school until after 2:30. Don't worry this doesn't interfere with any school work because they can be found doing their homework right here at the Market.
By the way their grass-feed beef is great and is only $5.00 for 2 pounds. That's right Just five bucks for 2 pounds.

Clarksdale Farm

Just found out that the Clarksdale Farm will be at the Great Falls Farmers Market today selling peaches and apples. I understand they have not been set up here for many years and this will be great opportunity to get some real fresh fruits from a very local source.
The market starts at 2:00 and is on the corner of 2nd Street and Avenue A.
