A non-profit theater program founded in 1980 for actors ages 7-18, to
perform full-length, original works of Shakespeare—with full
understanding.
YSP East is the first branch of YSP outside of Madison, WI. This New
England chapter in Turners Falls, MA at the Shea Theater, is
committed to keeping with the mission and values of YSP using the
same materials and methods.
There are no auditions or rejections. Any young person who registers
will receive one or more substantial speaking roles. YSP is
designed to show participants, their families, and the community
that these plays are delightful, accessible, and fun. Actors learn
to appreciate both the language and the drama in these great works
as well as the technical aspects of acting and stagecraft.
YSP East inspires young people in the region to fall in love with
the works of Shakespeare and through their immersion into classical
theater, find their voice.
