The Old Mill
This historic building, suspended over a melodious waterfall along the Mill River in Hatfield, Massachusetts has been completely renovated into The Old Mill on the Falls Inn and Banquet Facility, with nine rooms and an elegant 60-seat banquet facility. The graceful mixture of Victorian and country charm is an invitation to relax and enjoy your surroundings.
All of our rooms are beautifully appointed with vintage art and antiques, comfortable queen sized beds, private baths (some with whirlpool tubs), hardwood floors, cable TV, and wireless internet. Suites overlooking the falls are in high demand, so please make sure to put in your request early, especially for our busier weekends. We also offer a fully handicap-accessible room and a pet friendly room.
Each morning you will enjoy a delicious hot home-cooked breakfast served in our dining room or (in season) on the deck overlooking the falls.
The Old Mill is located in quaint Hatfield, Mass, just minutes from Northampton town center, the arts and dining hub of the region, and is close to many of the area colleges and universities including Smith College, Mount Holyoke, Hampshire, Amherst and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, not to mention some of the Northeast’s most prestigious boarding schools.
In any season, the Pioneer Valley is the perfect destination for a quiet weekend getaway from Connecticut, Boston or New York, or even a ‘staycation’ for those who live more locally. Come stay with us for a college inquiry, to drive the breathtaking country roads, visit our bounteous local farm stands in the summer, or enjoy a leisurely weekend of antiquing.
Historic Deerfield, an outdoor museum whose antebellum homes showcase more than 20,000 objects used by pioneering families between 1650 and 1850, is just a few minutes from the inn, and for the more active visitor, the Mohawk Trail, Mt. Sugarloaf and their breathtaking views, white-water rafting venues in summer, hiking or fishing along the Norwottuck Rail Trail and Connecticut River will keep you entertained for days. During the winter, the Quabbin Reservoir and Northfield Mountain Recreation Area offer snow enthusiasts both alpine and Nordic trails, while farther west, in the Berkshires, you can witness all of the Pioneer Valley's beauty with a climb to the top of Mount Greylock, the highest peak in Massachusetts, as well as the fabulous cultural venues such as Mass Museum of Contemporary Art (Mass MOCA), Tanglewood and Jacob’s Pillow.
