Family Fish Day!

Come join in fun for the whole family. Free giveaways, Limited tackle provided. Spin casting and fly casting instruction, spin fishing on the river, fly tying demonstrations, information on where to fish in the upper CT River Valley. Credits for Boy Scouts Fly Fishing Merit Badge. Note: children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Skate Park Revival Concert

Join the community in supporting this downtown asset. Money raised will help maintain the park and pay the yearly property taxes. The event includes 11 bands, ranging in styles from acoustic, jazz, punk and rock. Avenue A Cafe will provide food for this fabulous event overlooking the Connecticut River.

Til’ June 11: Sheffield School Artwork

As part of a two year Massachusetts Cultural Council grant, 3rd - 5th grade students at Sheffield school in Turners Falls have been very busy creating drawings with local art educator, Ruth O’’Mara and the school’’s art teacher, Nancy Meagher. Their collective work is entitled A Young Artist’’s View of Turners Falls & World Architecture and has been exhibited in several different locations in Turners Falls in the last few weeks including The Brick House during the Great Falls Art Fest and the month of May at the Carnegie Library. You have one last chance to see this fascinating body of work at the Great Hall of the Discovery Center through June 11.

Root Cellar at Great Falls Coffeehouse

Join the Friends of the Discovery Center for an evening featuring the Celtic side of Root Cellar, a band with musical experience a mile long. Musicians Jennie McAvoy, Mark Fraser, and Daphne Bye, along with Pat & Tex LaMountain, will fill the Great Hall with music in combinations from solo, duo, trio to the whole band, keeping the audience guessing as to what will come next! Doors open at 6:30 pm – coffee & homemade baked goods will be available. The museum will be open at intermission. Suggested sliding scale donation.

Earth, Wind & Sun Fair

A fun day of activities at the first Montague Earth, Wind & Sun Fair, with food, music, and information for adults and kids. Play with mini wind turbines, solar cells, and hydropower generators. Challenge yourself to keep 600-watts of light going for one minute with peddle-power. (It’s not as easy as it sounds!) Arts and crafts. Join a renewable energy photo contest (for students only - co-sponsored by Hallmark School of Photography). Bake something tasty to eat - from your own solar oven!
